Immune system activity:- A 2002 study analyzed the immuno-stimulatory property of a unique polysaccharide isolated from the morel mushroom. Known as galactomannan, this compound comprises 2.0% of the dry fungal material, and may work on both innate immunity and adaptive immunity by enhancing macrophage activity
It is difficult to describe the famous morel flavor. It is nutty, meaty, and unique whether cooked or dried. There is no substitute for butter to bring out its subtle but treasured character.
It possesses Vitamin D and Vitamin B like other mushrooms. They are rich in nutrients such as protein, dietary fiber and minerals such as iron, copper, phosphorus, manganese, zinc and potassium.
Morel Mushrooms have a delicate honeycomb like structure which is extremely difficult to clean using conventional methods. The best way to clean these mushrooms is to re-hydrate them in salt or sugar water for 45 minutes. During this time, it’s recommended to gently whisk the mushrooms a few times to eject any soil/debris. Once re-hydrated, rinse them lightly, then place them on a clean napkin and pat them dry. Water which remains behind can be reduced to prepare a sauce.
